About JD-Next

JD-Next is an 8-week online program that teaches real law school skills, including legal reading, case analysis, rule synthesis, and analytical reasoning. The program culminates in a law school admissions assessment that measures proficiency in those skills.

How Law Schools Use JD-Next

Law schools may use JD-Next as an alternative admissions assessment, where accepted, or as an additional admissions signal within holistic review. Because school policies vary, students should review each law school’s current admissions requirements before deciding how to use JD-Next in their applications.

Law schools may use JD-Next results to:

  • Consider an additional skill-based admissions signal

  • Support waitlist and addendum review decisions

  • Better understand a student’s readiness for the 1L classroom

  • Identify incoming students who may benefit from early academic support

  • Help students see areas where they may want to strengthen their preparation before law school

Why Recommend JD-Next to Your Students

JD-Next gives students a structured way to build and demonstrate law school readiness. Through case-based learning and legal analysis exercises, students gain exposure to the kind of reading, reasoning, and analysis they will encounter in the 1L classroom. JD-Next may be a strong option for students who want to stand out, students with test anxiety, first-generation or under-resourced applicants, career changers, international applicants, and students seeking another way to demonstrate readiness.
