In the right hands, a law degree is more than a credential – it’s a powerful tool for justice.

Attorneys play a vital role in society. In today’s complex and evolving world, we need thoughtful and committed lawyers who seek to make a positive impact.

The JD-Next Impact Scholarship celebrates ten exceptional law school applicants who plan to begin their legal education in Fall 2026 and are committed to making a positive difference in the world through the power of law.

Whether through advocacy, leadership, public service, or innovation, these future legal professionals are driven to utilize their education to enhance the justice system, strengthen communities, and foster a more just society.

This scholarship recognizes individuals who see a law degree not just as a personal achievement but as a platform to lead, serve, and drive meaningful impact for others.

1st Place:
$10,000
2nd Place:
$7,000
Eight Finalists
$1,000 each
All awards will be paid directly to the recipient’s law school as tuition credit.

How to Apply

  1. Apply by May 15, 2026 here.
  2. Ten finalists will be selected and notified by June 15, 2026.
  3. Finalists will be announced on July 1, 2026 and shared for public voting.
  4. Winners will be revealed on July 15, 2026, with funds disbursed to law schools by August 1, 2026.

Application Criteria

Personal Impact Essay (maximum 600 words)

Respond to the following prompt:

Describe how you plan to use your legal education to make a positive impact in your community or society. What motivates you to pursue law, and how do you envision using your degree to lead, serve, and drive meaningful change?

Résumé or CV (no more than 2 pages)

Highlight academic achievements, leadership roles, community service, work experience, or relevant projects that align with your commitment to impact and justice.

One Letter of Recommendation

From a professor, mentor, supervisor, or community leader who can speak to your character, leadership potential, and commitment to service or social impact.

Selection Criteria

Clarity and depth of the applicant’s vision for impact through law.
Demonstrated leadership, initiative, or service-oriented experience.
Writing quality and thoughtfulness of the essay.
Alignment with the values and mission of JD-Next.
